Decorating Ideas For Painting Teen Bedrooms

Teens are in an age group that appreciate having a room that incorporates their personality. One of the first approaches to giving any room a facelift is by painting it. This can be especially true for a teen's bedroom. Painting a decorative wall that incorporates themes and colors your teen enjoys allows you to create a room where your teen can hang out with friends, do homework or relax.

Animals

Animal themes work well for teen bedrooms. Whether you paint the entire wall in an animal pattern, such as zebra, leopard or tiger, or you opt to stencil various animals on the wall and paint a jungle scenario, incorporating your teen's favorite animals into the paint scheme is an idea that might go over well. Décor themes can range from a wall with nothing but painted ponies to a jungle scene with gorillas swinging through the trees. Animal theme paint jobs on the wall make it easy to coordinate the décor in the rest of the room.

Goth

For teens who like the Goth trend, walls painted in purple and black with eerie castles or even monsters is an ideal décor theme. Consider a mural with a stone walkway leading up to a Gothic-inspired castle sitting atop a mountain. Use glow-in-the-dark paint to give the room personality when the lights go out.

Retro or Psychedelic

A retro or psychedelic paint job might be something your teen will enjoy. Paint the walls like a 1950s diner or paint colorful neon patterns on the wall that seem to make the room spin. Another idea is to paint the walls bright yellow and stencil on black "Have a Nice Day" smiley faces on the wall. Consider multi-colored peace signs against a paisley background.

Sports

Football, baseball and basketball themes work well for those teens who play sports. A sports theme isn't just for the guys. Other sports themes include volleyball, soccer, disc-throwing and running. Paint the wall as a playing field and include those elements essential to the sport, such as bats, balls and nets. If your teen plays for a particular team, be sure to include the insignia or logo for that team.

Beach

Beach scenes can be fun for teens. A sandy beach front stretching across the wall with seagulls, seashells and a dolphin surfacing in the distance is one approach. Surfers and boats is another. For a teen who lives the surf and sand, this is ideal.
