Ideas For Painting A Boy'S Sport Theme Bedroom

Ideas for Painting a Boy's Sport Theme Bedroom

It's common for younger children to want themed bedrooms, and sports themes are popular for boys. When painting the walls for a sports-themed bedroom, there are a number of different ways to coordinate the walls to the theme.

Sports Team Colors

Most sports teams have specific colors. Painting the walls of your boy's bedroom to match the colors of his favorite team is the perfect way to show support of that team. In addition, this will provide an obvious direction for the decoration of the rest of the room. Most sports teams offer a diverse line of decorative paraphernalia such as flags, scarves and banners, so matching the walls to the paraphernalia will be easy.

Colors To Match The Sport

A less obvious and intrusive way to color the walls of a room in a way that still matches the sports theme is to paint a color that coordinates to the sport itself. For example, a boy who loves golf may choose to have green walls with a white trim, calling to mind thoughts of green grass and white golf balls. These walls can be decorated with vinyl stickers of golf balls and golf clubs, which can be removed later, if your son later decides he no longer wishes to have a sports-themed bedroom.

Mural

A mural is the most complicated and obvious way to decorate the walls for a sports theme. Unless you're a professional painter, you might want to stick to easy geometrical shapes and patterns. An example of this would be a painting of a football, repeated over and over, and two goal posts, painted at either end of the room. Another option is to turn the room into a "field," if the sport you are decorating for involves a field. In the case of football, the mural would show green grass and yard lines, with a goal post at either end, and clouds in the sky.
