Decorate A Texas Bedroom

A Texas-style bedroom will truly demonstrate your love for this state.

One design plan for the interior décor of a bedroom is a Texas theme. This theme is a great way to showcase your personality and is very easy to accomplish. After only a few days, you could be enjoying your new Texas bedroom.

Instructions

1. Start with the walls.

Die-hard Texas lovers can paint the state or state flag on an accent wall. Alternatively, a Texas-themed mural depicting the Rio Grande, the Great Plains, or cowboys herding long-horned steer, will work well.

If you prefer not to paint, use wall art to incorporate the theme. Frame several old-fashioned wanted posters or western-themed paintings and hang them on the walls. Otherwise, mount a saddle on the wall, or hang a collection of cowboy hats, horseshoes, coiled rope or branding irons.

2. Focus on your furniture.

If you're buying new, look for a bed and other pieces that are wood-hewn or wooden. A wooden rocking chair makes a functional accent piece.

If you're not buying new, tweak the furniture you already have, which is especially useful if you have mismatched pieces. For example, sanding down a mismatched bed, desk and chair, bureau and bookcase, then adding a coat of crackle paint gives the pieces uniformity and makes them work with your Texas theme.

3. Pull it all together with the finishing touches. Use textiles such as gingham, red-checked fabric, denim, suede leather, burlap or chambray for bedding, curtains, throws, chair cushions, accent pillows, rag rugs and even lampshades. Replace the ceiling fan with an antique-looking chandelier. Tie a handkerchief here and there and lean a wagon wheel in a corner. Bring in some greenery by placing daisies or wildflowers in a vase that looks like a cowboy boot.
