Use Beadboard In Bathrooms

Beadboard is a good choice for a bathroom since it's a simple way to add charm and detail to what is normally a bland, and oftentimes small, room. Beadboard adds a cottage look when hung and you can paint it to match any color scheme.

Instructions

1. Install beadboard on the bottom portion of the bathroom walls to achieve a charming cottage appearance.

2. Consider applying beadboard to the ceiling to draw the eye upward. If your bathroom is small, details like this can give the illusion of space.

3. Try using beadboard that runs horizontally rather than vertically as a way to minimize the "bowling alley" look in a long, narrow bathroom.

4. Cut the beadboard sheets into equal-sized squares and apply them to the wall in a checkerboard pattern for added interest and an unusual look.

5. Give your cabinets a face lift by covering them with beadboard. It's cheaper than purchasing new cabinets and it gives your old cabinetry a fresh new look.

6. Top your beadboard with a wide mantel shelf. The shelf can hold decorative items or a basket with rolled towels for easy access.
