Country Dining Room Decorating Ideas

Checked fabrics give a dining room country charm.

Design a warm and welcoming country-inspired dining room ideal for informal parties and family get-togethers. Mix textiles in country-inspired patterns with old and new dinnerware, utensils and decorating accessories for a cheery, fresh-from-the-farm look.

Country Prints

Use country-inspired fabrics to bring warmth and texture to a dining room. Reinvent drab, wood dining room chairs by upholstering them in a checked fabric. Add a matching tablecloth and napkins. Display napkins inside animal-shaped napkin rings made of iron or ceramic materials.

Nature-inspired Centerpieces

Enhance a farmhouse-inspired dining room table with items from the outdoors. Create a centerpiece by filling a wooden bowl with pine cones and colorful autumn leaves. Fill a quart jar with cranberries or dried corn and insert a tall taper candle. An iron votive holder in the shape of a bird or other animal adds interest.

Vintage Decor

Fill vintage teacups with small bouquets of flowers. Place the teacups at each place setting, or arrange them together in the center of the table. Hang a vintage wrought iron chandelier over the table. Use mix-matched antique plates, silverware and drinking glasses to set the table. Collect branches of autumn leaves or flower buds for display in a large, antique vase.

Country Color Palette

Decorate a rough-hewn wood table with a runner in barn red. Place apple-green cushions on wood dining chairs. Paint the room a sunny yellow hue.
