Make Your Own Bedroom Wall Decor

You can create inexpensive bedroom wall decor with style.

There are many ways to accent the walls in a bedroom, ranging from hanging one-of-a-kind paintings to displaying intricately woven tapestries. There are, however, other wall art projects that yield visually interesting bedroom wall decor without the high price tag. By incorporating easy-to-find craft supplies and simple art techniques, it is possible to create inexpensive bedroom wall decor with color, texture and style to fit into any space.

Instructions

1. Display a collection of old picture frames. Take an odd number of vintage picture frames, and paint them a color that coordinates with the bedroom decorating scheme. Use picture-hanging hardware to hang them in a visually pleasing arrangement on the wall behind the bed as a way to emphasize the bed area and add a stylish DIY wall-art touch to the decor.

2. Create coaster bedroom wall art. Place a piece of scrapbook paper in a shadowbox frame, and hot glue a decorative paper drink coaster in the middle. Use coasters with designs that complement the decor of the bedroom space. Hang an arrangement of coaster art pieces on a bedroom wall for an inexpensive accent with optimal visual appeal.

3. Use an old shutter to display bedroom wall decor. Find a louvered vintage shutter from a thrift store, and leave it with its original patina or paint with a coat of fresh paint. Hang the shutter horizontally on the wall behind the bed area, and tuck vintage postcards in its louvers as a way to add charm to any decorating scheme.

4. Hang embroidery wall art. Take a piece of fabric with embroidery details, and adhere it to a heavy piece of foam board using adhesive spray. Carefully lay the fabric on the board and work out wrinkles until the fabric is completely flat. Attach picture-hanging hardware on the back, and display it on a focal-point wall in the bedroom as a DIY wall decor piece that adds texture and pattern to the entire bedroom space.

5. Add stencil art to a bedroom wall. Use painter's tape to mark off a wall area. Stencil a design in the confines of the taped space using acrylic paint, a stencil template and a stencil brush. Take an empty picture frame, and place it on the wall so its edge contains the stencil design as if it were a painting for a piece of bedroom wall decor that is beautiful and inexpensive at the same time.

6. Make a floral wreath. Cut silk flower blooms off faux flowers, and hot glue them around a grapevine wreath form. Fill in empty areas with dried green moss to make the wreath appear full and lush. Tie a silk bow around the wreath, attach it with wire and hang it on a bedroom wall for a simple and elegant DIY decor piece to accent any type of bedroom space.
