Make A Princess Bedroom

Create a princess-themed bedroom for your little girl.

Themed bedrooms for children are wildly popular. What a treat for a child to watch his favorite movie, character or story come alive in his very own bedroom. On the top of the wish list for many little girls is the magical and whimsical princess motif. With a bit of lace, some pink and gold paint, a touch of royalty and an unleashed imagination, it's easy, fun and inexpensive to make your daughter the princess room of her dreams.

Instructions

1. A princess-themed room should have at least one pink wall.

Paint the walls of your child's bedroom pink. You may choose to paint only one or two walls, leaving the other walls white. Another alternative is to paint some of the furniture pink, such as a bureau, a bench or chairs. Or apply a princess-themed wall border on each wall. In addition, use adhesive wall appliques featuring princesses, stars, flowers and castles. Let your child choose the location of each applique. Stick them to walls, furniture, mirrors or windows.

2. Purchase princess-themed bedding for your child's bed. If she has a favorite princess, choose bedding that spotlights that particular princess. If no princess bedding is readily available, purchase sheets that are pink, lavender, silver or light blue. Add a princess-themed comforter and matching pillows.

3. Hang a simple canopy above your child's bed constructed of pink or lavender netting. Canopies are available for purchase, or you can make your own by placing hooks above the bed and on a nearby wall. Attach pink netting to the ceiling hook first, then let it drape down and onto the wall hooks. If desired, thread sky blue or lavender ribbon through the netting.

4. Choose an area rug appropriate for the size of your child's room.

Lay down a princess area rug. You can choose a rug with princess colors, or with an actual princess image woven into it. It may be round or square. Select a rug that is shaped and sized according to your child's room dimensions.

5. Use wispy pink material to create curtains.

Enhance the windows with princess curtains, or simply hang a princess valance, if desired. You can purchase curtains and valances that are princess themed or you can make your own. Use pink wispy material for your curtains. Tie them with purple ribbon.

6. Decorate the room with pink pillows, princess posters and stuffed animals.

Add various princess-themed accessories such a switch plate cover, a lamp, a clock, a mirror, a toy box, throw pillows, posters or stuffed animals.
