Modern Bedroom Decor Ideas

Modern bedroom decor can transform your bedroom into a sanctuary. Use some of the latest trends in eco-design and combine it with a modern aesthetic to create a space that is breezy and uniquely you. A modern decor looks better as an overall design rather than integrated with other decor styles.

Green Design

One of the hot trends in modern design is going green. You can integrate green elements into your bedroom such as a solar tube in the closet for a skylight, reprocessed paint, soybean-based insulation and carpet tiles made of bio-based products. On a more cosmetic level, green can mean investing in an organic mattress and bedding, or using bamboo mats on the floor. If your bedroom has an adjoining bathroom, create an eco-spa with organic towels rolled in baskets and natural beauty products stored in glass jars and bottles.

Scandinavian Modern

No one does budget modern like the Scandinavians. The look is clean lines and modular, with furniture that serves a dual purpose, such as loft beds with built in desks and bookcases underneath. White, black, gray and silver are the typical palette, which you can warm up with bright reds, blues, greens and yellows. Glass panels, built in lighting and hidden storage are common traits in Scandinavian modern furniture. Walls tend to be white, decorated with bold stencils or artwork stacked in matching gallery-style frames. This style is easy to clean, care for and change around to suit different needs.

Arty Modern

The higher budget modern bedroom decor option is the type favored by many artists and designers. It might be mid-century modern, with Eames chairs or Herman Miller office furniture. Or it can be bohemian modern, which adds a bit of clutter and color to the more traditionally stale modern interior. Bohemian modern favors low tables stacked with art books, gallery announcement cards as wall decor, and throw pillows that you can use on the bed or as seating.
