Add romance to your bedroom with red decorations.
If you want to infuse some romance into your relationship, turn your boring bedroom into a sexy boudoir using the color red. According to a 2010 article in "The Telegraph," red is synonymous with romantic compatibility and enhancement of sex appeal. That is why red can be the perfect color for your intimate setting. Add decorations and accents to create a sexy space that both you and your significant other can enjoy.
Instructions
1. Paint the walls a neutral color such as tan or beige. Another option is to add some mystery and darken the room a bit with a deep chocolate brown. Dark colors make the room feel smaller, however. So if you have a small room, opt for a lighter shade.
2. Start with the basic component of the bedroom: the bed. Dress the bed with a satin red or subdued red-patterned comforter and decorate it with some red scatter pillows. Don't get too crazy with patterns; anything that is too distracting makes the space seem less intimate.
3. Replace a couple of the bulbs in your bedroom with red light bulbs and have a dimmer switch installed. Red lighting will darken the room, giving it a sexy, mysterious look that evokes passion. Dimmer switches are great for setting a romantic tone, since bright lighting can take away from the sultry look.
4. Hang a piece of artwork with red accents in your bedroom. Focus on artwork that portrays nature, landscapes, artistic nudes or any other type of inspirational subject matter. Overly abstract pieces with sharp contrasts might deter from the intimacy of your room.
5. Nail 1-inch-by-2-inch boards the same length and width as your bed to the ceiling, making sure to attach them securely to the studs. These can be painted the same color as the ceiling. Then cut four long pieces of red gauzy fabric. Two pieces should be 3 feet longer than the the length of your bed and two pieces should be 3 feet longer than the width of your bed; they should reach the floor from the ceiling. Staple the top of the gauze to the inside of the wood frame on the ceiling, pleating the fabric as you go along to create a draped look for your sexy canopy.
6. Drape the floor with a beautiful Oriental or delicately patterned rug. This adds more interest to the room as well as keeps the floors soft and toasty warm.
