Bedroom Closet Organizer Ideas

Shoe holders and cork boards are perfect bedroom closet organizers.

Extend the storage capacity in your bedroom closet without the inconvenience and exorbitant cost of an addition. Strategically placed organizational tools will create newfound space and keep clothing, shoes and accessories in great shape and always ready to wear. You'll be surprised at the space you have in your bedroom closet once it has been cleaned out and organized.

Clean It Out

Start organizing your bedroom closet by thoroughly cleaning it out. Remove everything from the closet. Have three laundry baskets or cardboard boxes labeled Keep, Store and Go. Everything in the "Keep" basket will eventually be returned to the closet or dresser drawers. The "Store" basket will temporarily house items that need to be packed away seasonally or items that are of sentimental value. "Go" items will be thrown out or donated.

Purchase

Purchase the following items at a department store or home and garden store: An over-the-door shoe hanger with pockets; shoe racks that go on the closet floor; a small cork board and pushpins; and open bins that will fit on the closet shelf.

Utilize

Don't use the over-the-door shoe hanger for shoes. Instead, fill each pocket with belts, scarves, pantyhose, socks, umbrellas and tote bags. Nail or screw the cork board to the back of the closet door underneath the shoe hanger. Affix pushpins to the board and hang necklaces and bracelets from the pins. This is also perfect for "notes to self" before heading out the door after getting dressed for the day.

Stack shoes on the shoe racks on the closet floor. Fold sweaters, sweatshirts, jeans and workout clothes, and store in open bins on the closet shelf. Label each bin so finding needed items is simple.
