Remodel A Condo Bathroom

Use a large mirror to add visual space to a small condo bathroom.

Bathrooms in many condos are typically a standard size with basic fixtures. The square footage is not overly generous. However, the space can look brand-new and a little more spacious with just a few changes of color, cabinetry and main fixtures. Review several options before deciding on what works well for your condo. Try to create a makeover that will be visually appealing to future buyers, so plan a remodel that incorporates colors and materials that are universally appealing. You can expect to see a good return on your investment in almost every situation for a bath remodel.

Instructions

1. Look at ways to add light and space. Plan to install a custom-ordered large wall mirror section over the vanity. Add a mirror that covers most of the wall space below a light fixture bar mounted at the ceiling level. Install a skylight in the bathroom, if the bathroom is just below roof space. Paint the room white or cream.

2. Upgrade main fixtures. Install a regular-size bathtub with jets, if the bathroom is too small for a whirlpool tub. Use a sliding glass shower door to create shower space in the tub. Plan to install a new toilet with water-saving features. Add high-quality hardware and faucets in the room with metal finishes that complement new light fixtures.

3. Remodel the vanity cabinet with new materials and colors. Paint or stain the vanity and add a new countertop. Paint the cabinetry white, or stain it a dark cherry hue. Use a countertop with a sink bowl molded into the countertop design. Buy new drawer pulls and doorknobs for the vanity cabinet.

4. Upgrade the bathroom closet. Buy new shelving and storage containers to organize all supplies and toiletries. Install a recessed light in the ceiling of the closet to illuminate it. Create pocket doors that slide into the walls, if there is little room to open a door outward.

5. Purchase high-quality flooring that ties the room colors together. Buy pale gray tiles, for example, that will complement brushed-nickel faucets. Use white grout for stark contrast. Install decorative white shelves on the walls for holding stacked white towels to give the room a luxurious look.
