Painting Ideas For Boys Bedrooms

Color, color and more color is usually what a boy has in mind for his bedroom. The opportunities for creating a bedroom that he will enjoy are seemingly endless. Adding colors that he has helped pick out will give him a vested interest in his room. As he helps to create ideas and is able to display what is important to him it will become his space.

Scrabble

Paint a portion of a scrabble board on a wall. The size of the tile squares will depend on personal preference. A 5-by-5 foot finished board could have ten 6-inch squares running horizontally and diagonally. Paint some squares to resemble an actual scrabble board. Fill in other squares with the boy's name. Add more words to his name just the way a scrabble game is played. Use a word that represents his personality or interests. Complete the project with a hand painted picture frame for a finished look.

Sports

Measure about 8 inches from the top of the wall and paint a border to complement the wall color. Trace a template from a baseball bat and use it to trace and paint a ceiling trim. A baseball can be easily traced directly to the wall from the rim of a coffee cup. To create the red seams of the baseball use the cup rim. Alternate the baseball bat and a baseball inside the ceiling trim.

Footballs and soccer balls can be traced onto cardboard using different sizes of plates or platters. Experiment on paper beforehand to get the measurements you need. These balls can be used as ceiling trim or just painted in different areas around the walls. Finish the look with a few sports posters.

Signs

An older child might enjoy painted signs on a wall. Bright red stop signs, yield, no parking, school zone, animal crossing and no passing zone ahead are just a few to choose from. Take a few liberties and add some of your own creative signs.

A sports banner with his favorite team and colors will add lots of color to a wall. There are so many choices when it comes to professional teams as well as local teams. Go with the hometown high school or a younger boy might like to see his own name printed inside a banner.
