Mount A Mirror Above A Bedroom Dresser

Choose a bedroom mirror that matches your personality.

A bedroom mirror not only makes a room look larger, but also makes getting ready in the morning much easier. When hanging a mirror above a bedroom dresser, you want to make sure it is aesthetically pleasing, meaning it is hung straight and proportionately from the dresser. You also want to be sure that it is hung securely to avoid broken glass and possible injuries.

Instructions

1. Measure from the top of the dresser to where you would like the bottom of the mirror to sit. You want the mirror to be high enough that you can see your entire face, but not so high that the mirror looks awkward on top of the dresser. Once you have determined your placement, mark it with a pencil.

2. Hold the level horizontally along the mark you just made. Use your pencil to draw a line along the level.

3. Measure the height of your mirror. Using these measurements and the line you just drew, mark where the top of the mirror will sit.

4. Hold the level horizontally along the mark you just made. Again, use your pencil to draw a line along the level.

5. Measure the width of the dresser and use your pencil to mark the center point on the wall.

6. Draw a vertical line between your two horizontal lines, using the level and a pencil.

7. Measure the width of the mirror. Using these measurements and a pencil, draw two vertical marks from the wall, equal distances from the center line.

8. Hold the level vertically along one of the marks you just made. Use a pencil to draw a line along the level between your two horizontal lines. Repeat with the second vertical mark. You have now drawn an exact outline of your mirror!

9. Attach the hardware to your wall using the lines you have drawn as a guide. The hardware you choose will be based on the mirror you are hanging and the type of wall you are working with. If the mirror has no frame, you can use several decorative mirror clips, usually two on the top, bottom and sides of your mirror. A mirror light in weight with a wire or nail hole on the back can often be hung on a straight nail. A large and heavy mirror that is being hung on drywall will require hollow wall anchors for added support.

10. Erase the pencil marks and hang your mirror!
