Replace A Bathroom Vanity

Minor bathroom remodels are a great way to update the room and increase the value of your home. Start your remodel by replacing the bathroom vanity. After you have selected a new vanity and sink, just follow these steps to replace your bathroom vanity.

Instructions

1. Turn off the water supply to the sink and disconnect the supply lines. Remove the p-trap, which is the center part of the curved pipe.

2. Remove the countertop by loosening the caulk around the edges with a knife or screwdriver. After the seal is broken, pull the countertop away and remove it. You also need to loosen any caulk between the vanity and the wall so the vanity can be pulled away from the wall.

3. Gently rock the vanity back and forth to loosen it further. Don't get carried away--you don't want to damage the wall by rocking too vigorously.

4. Remove any screws that are holding the vanity to the wall. The vanity should be free from the wall now. Pull it away and remove it from the bathroom.

5. Bring the new vanity into the room. Position it where you would like it to be. Carefully measure and mark the area before you actually attach the vanity to the wall. Use a level to make sure everything is even. After you have made sure the positioning is right, screw the vanity into the wall. Try to anchor the screws into wall studs for added stability.

6. Use caulk to attach the countertop to the vanity.

7. Hook up the p-tap and reconnect the water supply lines. Turn the water back on. Then, apply a strip of caulk around all of the countertop edges.
