Mirrors offer a neutral wall hanging option.
If you are tired of the same bed, nightstand and vanity setup that so many bedrooms feature, there are many choices available to you. A bedroom should be restful, but it can also be fashionable and fun, so consider how you can decorate your bedroom to suit your tastes.
Mirrors
Cover one entire wall with floor-to-ceiling mirrors, or place smaller mirrors strategically throughout the room. Mirrors open up your space and they are more neutral than hanging wall art, which can clash with with your decorations. If you would like to give the mirrors a touch of personality, place them in decorative frames.
Textured Wall Hangings
If you are renting your living space, you cannot always make drastic changes to the walls. Instead, install large wall hangings that add color and texture to your walls. Cotton fabric wall hangings keep the room looking smooth, especially if you stretch them out taut, while wall hangings made from rough natural fiber or wood add a natural touch to the room. Look for rugs that can serve as wall hangings.
Tall Bed
To raise the visual focus of the room, raise the bed. A tall bed offers under-bed storage, and depending on the height of the bed, you may be able to slide other furniture underneath it, like bookshelves. Add a very long skirt to the bed to hide boxes or other storage units. A loft bed allows you to place a desk underneath the bed, creating a small work station close to hand.
Sconces
Secure wall sconces to either side of your bed. You will save space on your nightstand, and even when they are not lit, sconces add a decorative visual element to your bedroom. Choose wall sconces that match the rest of your room. For example, a sleekly modern room calls for metal wall sconces, while a room that uses natural textures calls for wood or faux-wood sconces.
Contrasting Trim
When you would like more color in the room, but you are unwilling to commit to painting all the walls, paint the trim. A strongly colored trim can change the look of the room, giving it a strong contrast, while a paler color is more subtle. Use a deep rich brown for a natural look, or consider a bright, tropical green for something fresher.
