Designing a small master bathroom is an easy project that requires no major construction or major remodeling. 1. Paint the walls a light color. Small master bathrooms look larger and more expansive when you paint the walls a light hue. Light paint colors make the walls recede, which is an illusion that works in your favor when you design your small bathroom.
2. Hang mirrors to visually enlarge the space. Mirrors help reflect light and give the feeling of added space. Mount one mirror over your sink and another on the opposite wall to make the walls appear much wider.
3. Add a pedestal sink to your small master bathroom instead of a vanity. Pedestal sinks are made of porcelain, with a column-shaped bottom and a basin on top; and are just the perfect size to fit into a small room, as they add charm and visual appeal as well.
4. Incorporate open shelving. Open shelves expose the wall behind them, which makes the space feel larger. To create a beautiful small bathroom that has the illusion of more space, install open shelves above the toilet area to make use of this area and to attractively arrange items such as toiletries, towels and toilet paper.
5. Hang a towel rack on the back of the bathroom door. Since space is at a premium in a small bathroom, don't waste valuable wall space with towel racks. Hanging towels on a back-of-the-door towel hanger makes every inch count in your small master bathroom.
6. Design your bathroom using a monochromatic . Choose a color scheme that is based on different values of the same color for the illusion of maximum space. Add shower curtains, towels and curtains that are all one color, and choose items that match the color of your walls.
7. Minimize clutter. A small master bathroom is not the place for a countertop full of cosmetics, as visual clutter quickly minimizes the look of your space. Keep countertops and shelves as clutter-free as possible for a small bathroom with large appeal for years to come.
