Black White & Red Bedroom Ideas

Black, White & Red Bedroom Ideas

Red, black and white are classic colors that can turn any bedroom into a bold design statement. The versatility of these colors means they can be feminine or masculine, modern or vintage, classic or trendy.

Vampire Theme

The red, black and white colors go well with Stephenie Meyers' "Twilight" book series about a vampire in love with a human. Turn your bedroom into a "Twilight" fan's dream room by adding quotes from the books on your walls and items from the book covers in your decorating plans. These items might include an apple, a red and white flower, a red ribbon, and a white chess piece.

Gothic elements such as gargoyles and bats can add a vampire twist to your bedroom decor. Evoke Anne Rice's New Orleans with fleur de lis symbols or French quotations in frames, or bring to mind Bram Stoker's Transylvania with black damask or lace fabrics.

Prints

Use a black-and-white print in your room. A bright, white wallpaper with black script style print, or a black-and-white zebra print can bring a splash of contrast into the room. Paint your walls red and add one panel of black-and-white wallpaper in a large, graphic print. This can become the focal point of the bedroom. Or use the large print as your bedspread, bringing the bed front and center in your design plan.

Accessories

Find black or white furniture to fit your bedroom theme. Wrought-iron with curled edges can fit in well, but plain black woodwork is also a solid choice. Add accent pieces like lamps, mirrors or statues in your three main colors. If your walls are red, make most of your accent pieces black or white. If your walls are black or white, make red the color of choice for your accessories. Include throw pillows and wall art as well.

For an inexpensive option, find pieces that match your decorating style at local thrift stores or secondhand shops. Even if they aren't the right color, you can purchase inexpensive spray paint at a local retailer and paint the items to match your room. Find a stencil that matches your theme and use it to paint a spot of interest on your walls or furniture.
