Plan A Victorian Era Bathroom

A clawfoot tub evokes a Victorian feeling in your bathroom.

A Victorian-style bathroom is full of detail and richness. Research the Victorian style before you start to collect the items you need to design a bathroom that will fit it. Because the bathroom is small, it's a good place to start a house-wide Victorian decoration scheme.

Instructions

1. Seek and collect Victorian style accessories for your bathroom. These might include soap dishes, pictures for the walls, a mirror to replace a more modern one that's already in place, and baskets to hold towels and other things.

2. Invest in high quality towels and rugs. The Victorian era is all about opulence. Deep colors such as maroon and hunter green, as well as cream and shades of pink are appropriate for this style.

3. Replace a standard bathtub with a replica claw foot bathtub with a Victorian style faucet. Replace the sink faucet with a Victorian replica as well.

4. Install ornate details around the room, such as moldings around the tops of the walls and paneled doors. Replace light fixtures with Victorian style sconces. Search salvage shops for authentic details.
