Install A Dining Room Chandelier

You want to replace that dual and boring light fixture with an attractive new chandelier. This is a simple do-it-yourself project that can be done in about an hour with little or no experience needed. While this task can be completed by yourself, it is made far easier it you have a companion to assist you.

Instructions

1. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Test the power to make certain it is off.

2. Remove the existing light fixture. Take out any screws and carefully lower the fixture until the wiring is visible. Remove the wire nuts, making certain the wires remain visible.

3. Lift the new chandelier into place. (It would be helpful to have a partner hold the fixture while you do the wiring.) Connect the like-colored wires using new wire nuts. Make certain the wire nuts are secure and that no bare wire is showing.

4. Push all excess wires into the electrical box. Lift the new chandelier into place and tighten all screws and mounting hardware. Slowly release the fixture, making certain the screws hold the weight.

5. Turn the circuit breaker back on and test the light. Your new chandelier is now installed.
