Dining Table Centerpiece Ideas

Table setting

A dining table centerpiece can set the mood for a party, event or dinner. Whether it is a grand, catered affair with many guests or an intimate dinner for two, your centerpiece should reflect the type of event you are hosting, set guests at ease and set the mood for the rest of the evening. If you are looking for some dining table centerpieces, here are some easy yet impressive suggestions for your next dinner.

Non-Flower Arrangements

We have all seen flowers as a centerpiece at dinners, but what about a focal point that does not use flowers, yet is still in a vase? Consider taking a tall, cylindrical vase and filling it with lemons and limes for a fresh and appealing centerpiece. You can still add flowers and greenery to the top, or you could fill the vase with water, allowing the lemons and limes to float inside. This is a stylish and classic way to bring color to the table without using flowers.

Edible Centerpieces

Tired of the same old centerpieces that are attractive, but nonfunctional? Invite your guests to dine on appetizers served as a centerpiece. You can carve fruit into flower shapes, place them on a wooden skewer and then serve them in a vase, like a flower arrangement. Fill a few smaller vases with dipping chocolate so that the guests can dip their skewers for a sweet finish. Or you can fill vases with various crudités like vegetable sticks or crackers and cheeses. Place three of these edible centerpieces down on the dining table, and allow your guests to choose what foods they want from the centerpieces.

Inexpensive Centerpieces

You can create a shabby chic centerpiece for an intimate gathering with things from around your home. Look in your cupboards for candles of different shapes, sizes and colors. Use them to create a grouping in the center of the table. Turn tumblers upside down and place the candles at different levels to create an interesting centerpiece. Light it just before your guests arrive. The candles will cast a soft glow and your centerpiece will certainly light up the room because it is so creative.
