Create an enchanted space for your little princess with soft pastels, ornate chandeliers, gilded mirrors and a canopy over her bed. Marabou feathers, gauzy fabrics and lots of glittery decorations -- from embellished switch plates and ceiling fan pulls to decorative plaques and window clings -- add shimmer and sparkle throughout the room for a bejeweled appearance. Majestic furniture like four-poster beds, antique vanities and armoires round out the palatial experience for your young princess, while a more luxurious option is a bed shaped like a carriage ready to carry your Cinderella to dreamland.
Instructions
1. Paint the room in pastels, accented with gold and silver. Stenciled damask or filigree patterns create an intricate design for an accent wall but may be too busy for the entire room. Use gold for designs over a warm pink or peach base, and use silver for a cool pink base.
2. Make wall art by painting vintage picture frames gold and silver and using them to frame inexpensive mirrors. Use vinyl adhesive or contact paper to create a large tiara decal, complete with plastic jewels, or to make a silhouette of an ornate carriage pulled by majestic horses.
3. Paint furniture white and accent with silver and gold paint in detailed carving or ironwork. Affix plastic jewels or sprays and strings of faux pearls to add opulence, and stencil her name or monogram on the headboard, footboard or drawers to customize the furniture for your princess.
4. Trim gauzy organza or chiffon and tulle curtains with lace and marabou feathers to create a whimsical window seat. Use strips of silver and gold lam as curtain sashes and accent with plastic jewels or beaded trim. Paint a wooden tiara-shaped plaque in her favorite colors, write her name in silver and gold paint pen and accent with faux jewels to make a door marker for the bedroom.
