Decorating Ideas For Round Dining Tables With A Table Cloth

A tablecloth in a warm color accents medium or dark round tables well.

Make the round dining table in your dining room even more eye-catching by adorning it with tablecloths that showcase your color choices and decorating style. There are several things you can do with the tablecloth for a less-than-traditional look in the dining room.

Colors

Choose a brightly colored tablecloth if you want your round dining room table to be the signature feature of the room. For example, cover a dark brown table with a cherry red cloth or a near-black table with a turquoise or lime green cloth. Pastel tablecloths accent light-colored round wooden tables nicely and help the table blend in with the rest of the space. If your dining room is round or crescent-shaped and painted white or tan, a light yellow or pistachio green tablecloth adds a subtle touch of color to the room and highlights the round theme of the room.

Patterns

A tablecloth that features circular patterns like polka dots emphasizes the table's round shape and provides attractive texture to the dining room space, even without the abundance of color. For instance, cover a black round table with a polka dot cloth in black and white; this is especially attractive if the wall is white or black. If you've decorated the dining room with flowers, floral-patterned tablecloths featuring circular flowers like daisies, poppies or roses can add deep hues of red, orange and pink to the dining room while celebrating the table's round shape.

Tablecloth "Bouquets"

Even if you've covered your round table with a cloth, you can stuff a smaller cloth into a larger vase as a centerpiece. For example, if your dining room is decorated with jewel tones and a you have a burgundy or red cloth on the table, roll an emerald green cloth napkin or placemat made of the same material as the tablecloth and put it into a tall, clear glass vase in the center of the table. Flare the top of the cloth in the vase slightly so that it resembles a flower, and spray it with glitter or a light coat of spray paint for even more visual appeal.

Table Runners

As an alternative to a full tablecloth, use a fabric table runner to adorn the center of the circular dining room table. Choose a vivid color like cobalt blue or neon orange as a pop of color in a room filled with neutral shades like black, gray or brown. Or select a patterned table runner that coordinates with the decor of the dining room: If you have wallpaper with a stripe or paisley pattern, for example, try a table runner in the same design.
