Ideas For Unique Centerpieces For Oak Dining Room Tables

Use a teapot for your centerpiece container.

Make your own unique centerpiece for an oak dining room table. Select unusual containers or flowers for your design. Or you could contrast the color or texture of the wood to create tension in your design. Another option is to create a soothing table display by blending the centerpiece materials to the wood.

Thread Spools

Design a table centerpiece that contrasts the warmth of your dining table with the coolness associated with industrial sewing thread spools. Pick spools with threads that coordinate to the golden tones of the oak dining table, such as red, orange, gold or brown, and of various heights and widths. Group the spools in the center of a mirrored tray, and insert a bright-colored, strong-stalk, live flower inside the spools, such as a sunflower, daisy or carnation. Attach an individual water container to give the flower nutrients.

Bells of Ireland

Arrange a table-top display of curving flowers as a centerpiece. Line up thin, square, glass vases evenly spaced down the length of the table. Add clear aqua crystals inside, plump them up with water and tint them green with food dye. Place one stalk of the bells of Ireland flower into each one of the vases. Pick flowers with curving, sinuous shapes for your display. Sprinkle green, bell-shaped confetti on the table, or add small green tea lights between the flowers.

Butterfly

Create a bright, colorful butterfly and vegetable display for your table. Offset the wood table with a metallic pewter compote placed in the center. Carve a low-lying, flower display from bunches of radishes, and arrange the radishes to flow over the edges of the compote. Glue butterflies to bamboo skewers and angle them into the compote between the radishes. Place several butterflies at the bottom and on the pedestal of the compote.

Tea Pot

A decorative ceramic teapot, in similar colors to the oak table, becomes your centerpiece container. Place soaked plant foam inside the pot and set it on the table. Cut the flowers for the display at different lengths. Place the larger flowers in the center of the pot with the smaller ones around the edges. Stick a couple of flowers into the spout. Choose flowers such as orchids for their sweet smell or hydrangeas for their large flowering heads, or match the color of the flowers to the design of the teapot.
