Instructions
1. Paint the walls a soothing color. Light earth tones, such as cream, beige, light burnt orange, green or blue, create a relaxing atmosphere. Use richer colors, such as chocolate brown, if there is a lot of lighter details, such as a white tub, surround, cabinets and accessories.
2. Display towels around the room. White towels are simple and play into the spa theme, although combining with neutral colors adds some visual interest without taking away from the calming atmosphere, such as cream, beige and sea foam green. Roll up some towels to display on shelves or in baskets near the tub or on the counter.
3. Accessorize the bathroom with a few well-placed items. Too many accessories make the bathroom feel cluttered, which detracts from a spalike atmosphere. Line the tub or counter with votive or pillar candles, or smooth river stones. Add a vase with long, thin branches or flowers, or add a plant for natural color. Fill clear jars, such as apothecary jars, with bath salts, bubbles, oils or novelty soaps.
4. Place comfortable bath mats in front of the sink and tub creating a whole-body experience in the room.
5. Replace your showerhead with a full-body or removable showerhead that provides a soothing feel.
