Witch Recipe Book
Welcome people into the dining room by setting up a ghoulish recipe book displaying "specials" that will be served. Take an old book and open it to a page near the middle. Take two pieces of paper and slightly burn the edges so they look old. Write on the paper in fancy script what will be served that night. Tape the pages inside the open book. Arrange some of the ingredients being used next to the book. If a dish calls for "eye of newt," arrange fake bloodshot eyes next to the book.
Hanging Light
There are several ways to decorate a light fixture over the table. For a fall look, intertwine twigs and branches. For color, add leaves.
For a spooky and elegant look, hang black lace and beads from the light fixture. Another decorating option is to stretch faux spider webs over the fixture and add plastic spiders.
Dessert
Create a fun and tasty Halloween-themed dessert. An easy option is to place large blocks of chocolate in different sizes and shapes on a silver or gold platter. Scatter the pieces haphazardly on the platter. Place a large meat cleaver in the center of the chocolate. This cleaver adds a creepy factor, but also enables people to break apart the large blocks. The dessert also serves as a decoration and can be left out throughout the evening since it does not have to be refrigerated. The dessert is not recommended for dinners that include children.
Pumpkins
Arrange pumpkins on the table and other surfaces in the room. The pumpkins can be plain, or they can be carved into jack-o-lanterns. Carve jack-o-lanterns to fit your theme. Add candles or battery-powered lights to the jack-o-lanterns to enhance the design and add a warm glow to the room.
