Add decor favorable to your personal style to improve your bedroom's appearance.
Your bedroom should be a sanctuary where you can relax and unwind. It's a more relaxing environment if it's aesthetically appealing to you, made possible by modifying the walls and furniture. While you may not focus on decorating your bedroom as much as you would your living room, since the living room is a public space visible to guests, you should still make decorating your personal area a priority.
Instructions
1. Paint your walls to create the mood for your bedroom. If you want a light environment, select a soft color like a light yellow or other pastel. If you desire a calming environment, select shades of blue or green. Paint the trim white or a different shade of the same color to accent the room.
2. Purchase a metal bed frame for a contemporary or cost-effective approach. Select a wooden bed frame for a country or rustic feel. Lighter colors are ideal for smaller bedrooms while darker colors like mahogany are bold and really make your room pop.
3. Buy new bedding that coordinates with other colors in the room for a uniform look. If you have a basic room with neutral tones in shades like brown, choose a bold, bright bedding set to make the bed stand out. Make your bed comfortable since you'll be spending quite a bit of time in it everyday. If your budget allows, spring for sheets with a high thread count or silk.
4. Add pictures on the walls. Hang pictures of your family, pets or nature scenes. If you have an interest in a particular subject, such as antique cars, get a few photos and frame them. You can also add some mirrors as an alternative to art.
5. Use curtains to bring life to your room. Curtains are available in various thicknesses with some designed to accent the room and others created primarily for decoration.
6. Add a rug to the room, especially if you have hardwood floors. An area rug complements the bedroom without taking away from the look of your floor and they're available in many colors, sizes and styles.
