Accessorize A Dining Room Bay Window

This bay window is big enough to envelope the dining room table and chairs.

A bay window can be an asset to any room of your house. Bay windows do so much more than simply allowing you a view of the world around you and an influx of natural light. These windows enlarge the rooms that they're in, and often provide an built-in window seat for enjoyment. If your dining room has a bay window in it, accessorizing it properly helps emphasize this special type of window and prevent it from being overlooked.

Instructions

1. Paint the window frames around each individual window panel that make up the bay window a color that contrasts the wall color. For example, if your window frames are wooden, stain them to match your hardwood floor. If they're metal, paint them a color that matches the upholstery on your dining room chairs. Regardless of what you choose, the window frames should have a color that makes them pop, which helps in adorning the bay window in its entirety.

2. Install a decorative curtain rod specifically for bay windows. The curtain rod should accentuate the decor style of the room and be bold enough to bring more attention to the bay window. For example, rods with wrought-iron scrolls or crystal balls at the end are suitable choices.

3. Purchase a long window swag in a color that harmoniously matches or contrasts the color that you painted the window frames. Drape the swag gracefully around the curtain rod so that it frames and hangs around the bay window evenly. Allow the swag to touch the floor for a more romantic look.

4. Push your dining room table away or into the bay window depending on size. If you bay window is large enough to envelop your table, push the table toward the window for a more cohesive effect. If the bay window is too small to surround your table, push your table away from the window so as not to block or conceal it.
