Child'S Bedroom Remodeling Ideas

Transform your child's bedroom into a colorful, themed room that will make your child smile every time she walks in. Choose a theme that reflects your child's interests and personality, and then use that theme for decorating ideas. Consult with your child about possible themes, and get her input when you make decorating decisions.

Jungle Theme

A jungle or safari theme allows you to fill the room with bright colors and images of fun, exotic foliage and animals. Paint a jungle-themed mural on one wall, and paint remaining walls in a tropical green or yellow, or a cerulean blue reminiscent of bright jungle skies. Look at animal encyclopedias for images of animals to use as a guide for your wall mural. Include a variety of animals, tropical birds and foliage. If you don't have time to paint a complete mural, you can simply paint a border of flowers and animals along the ceiling or trim. You can also find wall stickers of elephants, monkeys, tropical trees and more. Look for bright colored sheets, throw rugs and pillows to complement your jungle theme.

Superhero Theme

Focus on your child's favorite superhero, such as The Hulk, Spider Man, Superman or Batman, or simply create a more general superhero theme. You can find a wide variety of superhero-themed sheets, featuring famous superhero characters, villains or a combination of the two. You can also find superhero blankets and shaped pillows to jazz up a simpler set of sheets. Look for large superhero decals or stickers to decorate the walls; the three-dimensional, life-like appearance of some of these stickers will create the impression that your child's favorite superhero is in the room with you. You can find stickers and posters with images of Spider Man, Superman, The Thing, Iron Man, Batman, Hulk and more.

Under-the-Sea Theme

Decorate your child's room according to an under-the-sea theme. Paint an underwater scene on one of the walls, complete with colorful corals and reef fish. Consult a reef fish identification guide for images of fish to work from or have fun inventing your own imaginary fish. You can even include a painted image of your son or daughter swimming or snorkeling with the fish. Look for under-the-sea themed curtains, lamps and wall clocks, and choose light blue sheets, pillows or rugs.
