Use shiny hardware in a dark blue bathroom.
If you move into an apartment or house with a dark blue bathroom, it can be hard to decorate. This is especially true if you are renting the premises and cannot make major adjustments to the room. Having a dark bathroom can be challenging to decorate, but using lighter colors and shiny items can help lighten a dark bathroom and add life to an otherwise dim and dull bathroom.
White Window Treatments
If you have a dark blue bathroom with a window or two, add light window treatments to the windows to add a lighter touch in the dark room. These can be white blinds or white curtains. Having bright white window treatments gives a brighter kick and feel to the room, rather than cream colored treatments or lighter pastel colors.
Shiny Hardware
Use shiny hardware, such as door knobs, toilet paper holder and towel racks, to add some light and shine to the dark room. When the overhead light in the room is turned on, the light rays will shine and reflect off the shiny hardware and redirect attention from the dark blue bathroom walls to the shiny hardware.
Smaller Furniture
If you need furniture in your bathroom, such as a laundry basket or a small storage unit for makeup and brushes, opt for smaller furniture. Use drawer units you can place under the sink or beside the toilet, so the furniture does not take up much room, making the bathroom cluttered. Also, choose lighter colors, such as white or light wooden baskets.
Light Ceiling
Ask if you are allowed to paint the ceiling of the bathroom. If yes, consider painting it a lighter color to add height to the dark blue bathroom. Using lighter ceiling colors, such as white, light gray or a light pastel, will brighten the feel of the bathroom and add a sense of space.
Add Some Life
