Create a relaxing, luxurious bedroom in your home.
It is often said that a person's bedroom is her sanctuary. A luxurious bedroom will be a place a person wants to escape to every night after a long and stressful day. When you are planning your bedroom, think about the touches that are typically included in high-end hotel suites. Creating a luxurious bedroom might take a bit of money, but it is something that most people can handle without a professional designer.

1. Install thick carpeting in your bedroom. Soft carpeting will feel nice on your feet when you walk barefoot. If you like the look of hardwoods, choose large, soft area rugs for the space. Be sure to place a rug beside the bed so that you don't have to step out of bed onto cold floors.
2. Select furniture for your space, including a bed, a side table, a dresser, a vanity and a chair or two. Select a large bed with a large headboard. Make sure that the mattress is comfortable. Choose furniture that is not too fussy and is large enough to hold all of your items. Make sure the furniture remains clear of clutter.
3. Place sheets with a high thread count on the bed. Add a duvet that is thick, soft and warm. Choose muted colors for the bed, such as pure white or earth tones, for a more elegant look. Place lots of comfortable pillows on the bed so that you can stay in bed and read or relax.
4. Avoid bright lights for your luxurious bedroom. If you desire an overhead light, select a chandelier with small light bulbs that are not too bright. If the bulbs are bright, consider installing a dimmer on your light switch. Otherwise, select lamps for your side tables so that the lighting in the room will be low and warm.
5. Include entertainment in your luxurious bedroom. Tailor the entertainment options to what you enjoy doing. For example, consider creating a reading nook in a corner of the room beside the window. If you enjoy watching television or movies, place a television and DVD player in the room. However, be sure to place the electronics inside a cabinet so that you can hide them and their wires when they are not in use.
