Make A Bedroom Wall Rustic

Properly decorate walls in rustic style.

Rustic style is all about incorporating outdoor accessories, such as wood and animal furs, with homey accents to achieve a cozy atmosphere in homes. Since rustic style is a combination of country and mountain lodge styles, antiques and other old-fashioned decorations mix well into rustic style homes. Rustic bedrooms are characterized by wooden furniture, cotton quilts and small, dim lamps for an overall comfortable, relaxing vibe. Aside from furniture and bedding, walls also provide focal points for displaying rustic style decorations in bedrooms.

Instructions

1. Paint the bedroom wall a rustic color, such as forest green, brick red or a variation of brown, if the wall isn't covered in wood paneling. If the wall is already covered in wood paneling or is made of logs, leave it alone for a natural rustic appearance.

2. Make the painted, paneled or natural log wall a focal point in the bedroom. Mount a wicker, iron or wood headboard on the wall to add more rustic appeal. Accentuate the rustic headboard with a patchwork quilt or wool blanket on the bed.

3. Mount small antler lamps on the wall next to the headboard to provide a cozy lodge vibe. Install one lamp on each side of the headboard for balance.

4. Gather four small or medium size photos or paintings of rustic scenes, such as mountain landscapes, wild animals, evergreen trees or log cabins, in wood frames. Hang these photos in a square or rectangular cluster on the wall above the headboard. Position two of the pictures directly above the other two pictures for a balanced focal point on the wall.

5. Hang linen or cotton curtains from wood, iron or antler curtain rods over windows in the wall for an extra rustic touch. Make sure the curtains' colors and prints coordinate with the colors and prints in the bedroom.
