Many parents choose to bring a young baby into the master bedroom at night to make night-time feedings and diaper changes more convenient for everyone involved. With an increased awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, many parents are opting to bring a crib in the room rather than sleep with the baby in bed, which is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Parents can move a crib in the master bedroom, still have a division of space, and everyone will sleep well.
Instructions
1. Rearrange the current furniture to make room for the crib and accessories. Many parents find it helpful to delegate a corner or wall as the baby's space, so that while sharing the same room, there can be a portion of it that remains the master bedroom and a portion that is the nursery.
2. Choose decor that matches the master bedroom. Most parents want to choose some sort of baby-themed decorations for the crib area, but they also don't want colorful clowns in their bedroom. Try to integrate the two decors. For example, Manila Bulletin Publishing suggests decorating the wall in the nursery area as a garden if the master bedroom has leaves on the wallpaper.
3. Move in the crib and necessities. Place the crib in the desired spot and bring in other items needed. Parents will most likely need extra clothes, diapers, wipes and a place to change the baby during the night. Decide on storage, whether it be a changing table or a small set of drawers.
4. Choose accessories that will enable parents and baby to sleep well. A sound machine may help the baby stay asleep when parents are coming in and out of the room. A nightlight by the crib will enable parents to see during the night without turning on a harsh light that disrupts sleep. Some families may find a room divider will keep the space separated and help prevent light and noise from one side disturbing the other.
