According the ancient Chinese system of Feng Shui, the dining table should be in the center of the room and away from the main door. There should be equal space on all four sides and the space should be spacious enough for each person to sit and stand from the table.
Vaastu Principle
According to the ancient Indian laws of Vaastu, the best place for a dining room table is in the northwest or southwest corner of the room. However, if the dining room is a continuation of the living room, then it should be placed in the southeast corner of the room. Additionally, the dining table should not touch the wall.
Other Considerations
Although the proper direction of your dining room table is important, the placement of other things in the dining room should also be considered.
