Apartment bathrooms are typically small with strict limitations on improvements.
Decorate your apartment bathroom in a way that makes use of every inch of available space, is pleasant to look at, and doesn't make the bathroom feel small and cramped. Most landlords limit the types of alterations you can do, such as painting or upgrading the cabinets, so you can find other ways to inject your personality and style into the room while staying within the confines of your lease agreement.
Color
Paint the walls if your landlord permits, or simply introduce colors in other ways. Most apartment bathrooms are on the small side, which means the colors you choose can make the space feel more cramped or open. Light, airy colors will make the bathroom feel larger and serve as a foundation to bring brighter colors in through accessories.
Hang a brightly painted cabinet on one wall or a large piece of art to set the tone for your color scheme and theme.
Themes
Use your hobbies or some of your favorite things as a theme for your bathroom. Seashells, nautical objects, rubber ducks and floral themes are common. There are other themes you can use, as well. Underwater, tropical, or jungle scenes; wild animals; shapes; sports; cars; cartoon characters; or even sweet treats can serve as
Storage
Create additional storage in a decorative way if your apartment, like many others, doesn't have enough built-in storage. A colorful shelf hung over the toilet can add color and more storage space. Install towel racks to free up shelf space and decorative shelves for other items. Consider glass shelves for tiny bathrooms; because they are transparent, they won't appear to take up extra space. Decorative bins, baskets and clear containers can keep your bathroom products organized for a clutter-free bathroom that's functional and attractive. For example, roll up your washcloths and put them in a basket on the ledge of the tub, on a shelf or on top of the toilet.
Accessories
Due to the smaller space of the bathroom, your accessories should be functional as well as decorative. Use colorful, shaped soaps that complement your theme and color scheme, such as pink lip-shaped soaps for a pink "diva" theme. Clear vinyl shower curtains with large designs, such as fish or shapes, can keep the space feeling open and also fit in with the decor. Use themed shower curtain hooks to further the decorative aspect of the shower curtain. Hang towels that pop with color if everything else is light and neutral. Strategically place a small, decorative item on the counter or a corner of the tub that doesn't take up too much space, such as a small houseplant, floral arrangement or candle arrangement.
