Get Rid Of Tiny Biting Flies In The Bathroom

Bathroom odors and light may attract various biting flies.

In the warmer months, small flies enter homes and cause considerable annoyance by biting humans and pets and buzzing around the face. Flies are especially attracted to bathrooms due to odors from trash, litter boxes, unflushed toilets and sink drains. You can eliminate flies with proper sanitation and insect control products.

Instructions

1. Close all exterior doors and windows to prevent flies from entering the bathroom from the outside.

2. Replace your current trashcan with a can that has a tight lid to control odors and block flies. Avoid throwing food waste in the bathroom trashcan.

3. Dispose of used cat litter as soon as possible to eliminate fly-attracting odors.

4. Flush the toilet after each use to eliminate fly-attracting odors.

5. Pour boiling water down the sink drain to eliminate slime that coats sink pipes. This pipe coating contains bacteria that attracts and feeds some flies. If the boiling water is ineffective, turn off the water source, disassemble the pipes with a wrench and scrape out the coating with a wire brush.

6. Place baited fly traps or fly paper around the bathroom until the problem goes away.

7. Spray cracks in windows and doors with aerosol insect spray to prevent flies from slipping through the cracks.

8. Turn the bathroom lights off when you aren't using them. Lights attract flies, particularly at night.
