Paint offers color and tone to a bedroom.
As with decorating any other room, choosing an ideal design for the bedroom is essential. You go to the bedroom to relax and sleep, so your room should reflect your personal style and mood. Three important elements of a bedroom are color, layout and use of textiles to create the style and look you desire. Whether you want a tranquil escape or bold, inviting décor, you can create your ideal getaway.
Color
Color is one of the most important aspects of room design because it sets the mood for the space and allows you to add décor and textiles based on the color. If you want a tranquil room, choose soft colors such as sage, lavender, blue-gray or light brown. For vibrant colors, opt for deeper shades of your favorite hue such as eggplant or burgundy, or choose greens, reds and blues. If you want a pop of color but feel timid about all-over color, paint three walls with a neutral paint such as creamy white and use a bold color for the accent wall. Use trim paint as a way to incorporate color into a room, even if you are aiming for a neutral palette.
Layout
Since you spend time in the bedroom, the layout is important to allow you to move around the space with ease. Make the room appear larger and brighter by placing mirrors on the walls. One way to increase light is to place a mirror directly across the window on the opposite wall. Using mirrored closet doors also brighten up the space. Keep furniture to a minimum in small rooms to prevent them from appearing smaller. For L-shaped or narrow rooms, avoid feeling as though you have to decorate the entire space for one use. Break up the awkward layout by creating a sitting or reading area in one portion of the room, and leaving the bed and dressing area in the larger portion of the room.
Textiles
Textiles like bedding, rugs and
ideal for a relaxing bedroom. Add a rug to the floor if you have a spacious room, but leave the floor bare in smaller areas to add to the spaciousness.
