Keep furniture from blocking your bedroom doors for ease of entry and movement through the room.
If your bedroom has a lot of doors, arranging furniture inside can be a bit of a challenge. Multiple doors, either entry doors or closet doors, present problems with furniture arrangement because you have to provide clearance to open the door. There are a few strategies to employ when deciding where to place your bed, dresser and other items in the room to maintain entryways and good flow.
Instructions
1. Place the bed in a corner away from all doors. Your bed is often the largest piece of furniture in the bedroom so you'll have to give it the largest unbroken wall space.
2. Use the space directly next to the bathroom door, if you have one, for your dresser or entertainment center. Generally, en suite bathroom doors open into the bathroom instead of the bedroom. If you don't need to accommodate the door opening, you have less to worry about in regards to blocking the door with furniture.
3. Lock or semi-permanently close off a door if the room it goes to can be accessed another way, such as a door that joins two bedrooms. This will free up space for your furniture. You can use the space for your dresser or other large piece of furniture.
4. Switch out your standard closet doors for accordion-style doors. This will open up more wall space for you. Next to a closet is an ideal place for a nightstand if it's near your bed.
