Make A White Bedroom

Use white to create a romantic feeling in a bedroom.

Your bedroom can be your own personal oasis, and a white bedroom can create a Zen-like, peaceful environment. A monochromatic white bedroom opens up a small bedroom and pulls together the elements of a large room. To add interest to a white-on-white color scheme, mix it up with variety of textures and patterns. Vintage pieces and soft lighting can add the ideal finishing touch.

Instructions

1. Choose a white paint color for the walls. There are a wide range of whites to choose from and the color you choose can add to the atmosphere you are trying to create. Use crisp, brighter whites for a cool, contemporary look, and pale cream for a softer feeling. Gray whites can lend an air of sophistication, while a pink-tinged white will create a romantic ambiance. If you feel adventurous, try painting different tones on different walls to produce depth.

2. Position the bed so as to create a focal point and make it attractive with white linens, fluffy pillows and textured bedspreads. Mix all-white patterns for an impressive look. Use a vintage white metal headboard, a white-painted wicker headboard or consider a tufted upholstered headboard for dramatic visual impact. Use a mix of periods for the other white furniture in the room for an interesting and stylish impression.

3. Cover the floor with plush carpeting in a creamy white color. Use area rugs in shades of white if you have beautiful hardwood flooring. The contrast between the dark wood of the flooring will make the whites in the room stand out even more.

4. Accessorize with white lamp shades and throw pillows. Add vintage furniture like an antique white wicker hope chest, writing desks and white metal chairs to add character to the room. Hang shabby chic chandeliers to give the white room a dreamy look with soft lighting.
