Creative Ideas To Decorate A Bedroom

Decorating a bedroom takes a little bit of creativity.

Redecorate your boring, lifeless bedroom with ideas that will make it look like it came straight out of a magazine. You'll find dozens of ways to decorate your room using different accessories or themes. Simple materials, such as paint, can even transform your entire bedroom. With easy projects that you can do yourself, it's a snap to create a stylish bedroom.

Headboard

With a bit of creativity, you can create your own headboard in different ways. If you want to make own upholstered headboard, place a thin piece of foam over plywood in any shape that you like and use a staple gun to cover it with fabric.

Another idea is to have fabric hanging down from a valance above your bed. If you find an large, decorative wrought-iron grill or paneled screen, these can be used as headboards as well.

Wall Art

Instead of the usual posters or painting, decorate your room with different kinds of wall art. Find an image or photograph that you like, have the image enlarged, cut it out in even squares and hang it on your wall like tiles. Or stretch fabric of your choice over a frame (found in most craft stores in varying sizes) using a staple gun. Likewise, you can create a triad of stretched fabric over canvas and hang the art work side-by-side on your wall.

Themed Bedroom

A theme can either be a style such as a country, Asian, tropical or nautical bedroom, or by decorating with a specific pattern or color in mind, such as a blue-themed bedroom. A theme for a bedroom allows you to focus your creativity when it comes to choosing almost everything that you'll need to decorate your room, such as the furniture and accessories. For a nautical theme, for example, instead of a regular bed, you might want one shaped like a boat. Or for a country-styled bedroom, you might opt for lace curtains and heart-shaped wall art.

Painting Walls

Painting your walls to decorate your room can be achieved in a number of ways. Paint vertical or horizontal stripes in a room with almost as many colors as you like. Stripes can be painted using varying widths or equal widths.

You can also use magnetic primer that you can paint over to create a magnetic surface on a wall in your room that you can use to attach photographs. Additionally, find paint that creates a blackboard surface, which is a creative idea when painted along the bottom half of a kids' bedroom, so they can draw on their walls.
