A bathroom fan removes moisture from the room.
Bathroom fans are used to carry away excess moisture and odors from the room. In many municipalities, they are a required fixture for new and remodeled homes. A rotating set of blades spins inside the fan and blows air from inside the bathroom to the outside through a series of ducts. These fans feature a cover that protects wandering fingers or other objects that might accidentally enter the fan. Removing the cover from a bathroom fan for cleaning or replacement is a simple task.
Instructions
1. Turn off the power supply for the bathroom fan by moving the switch to the "Off" position. Secure the switch with a piece of masking tape so it is not accidentally switched on while you are working.
2. Remove any rugs or other objects beneath the bathroom fan, if possible. Spread an old sheet on the floor underneath the fan to capture dust that might fall out when you remove the cover. Use a rag to remove any dust from the fan cover.
3. Place a stepladder or ladder underneath the bathroom fan, if needed, so that you can reach it safely.
4. Examine the bathroom fan cover. Most bathroom fan covers fall into two categories: those held on with clips and those held in place with screws. To remove the type with the clips, squeeze the clips on the sides of the cover and pull it straight out of the fan casing.
5. Remove the screw type fan cover by placing one hand on the fan cover to hold it in place. Loosen the screws with either a screwdriver or power drill with a screwdriver attachment.
