You can paint a teen girl's bedroom many ways.
Teenage girls can be finicky creatures, and they can quickly change tastes and moods. Decorating their rooms is difficult because of these inherent traits. When deciding on a paint and décor scheme for your daughter's room, incorporate items she loves. Try to use light, cheerful colors that create and promote good emotional health, rather than using depressing dark colors.
Purple
According to "Kids Rooms and Crafts," purple, or violet, is a favorite paint color for teen girls' bedrooms. Many shades of purple are available---from deep plum shade to light-colored mauves and lilacs. This color symbolizes good judgment and peace of mind, as well as magic and mystery. It is also the most favored color of artists. Some decorators use purple paint on the walls and ceilings and coordinate it with a white bedspread and sheer lilac curtains. Others paint the ceiling purple to create the effect of a dusky sky.
Blue
The color blue promotes communication with others, as well as creates a sense of relaxation and tranquility. Use cool shades of blue in a teen girl's room, rather than dark indigo colors. If your teenage girl loves the ocean, consider using this color and the beach theme in the overall room decoration. Ombre is a painting technique used to blend lighter colors into darker colors, creating a blurry effect. This is a common technique when using the color blue because it has so many different shades. Use the lightest colors at the top of the wall, and go progressively darker as you paint. Blend the different colors together using a dabbing movement with a wet sponge. Consider painting the ceiling blue and adding white fluffy clouds to create an indoor sky for her.
Green and Yellow
If your daughter has no particular color preference for her room, consider using shades of green and yellow. Green represents nature, learning, self-respect and balance. It also invokes a feeling of harmony and healing. Yellow symbolizes happiness and creativity. Paint the walls with a pale yellow base first, and add grass or sage green stripes. Paint the stripes by marking the lines with painter's tape and using a damp sponge dipped in green glaze. Decorate the rest of the room in different shades of green and gold accessories, such as lamps and picture frames.
Pink
Pink is a favorite room color for little girls, and some teenagers continue to favor it as they grow older. Pink is the color of love, and it also represents self-acceptance, self-worth and tenderness. Deep pink colors, including magenta, can even neutralize disorder and violence, as well as diffuse aggressive behavior. Consider using this color if your daughter is in an angry phase. You can use a modern black and white bedspread and accessories to offset the pink color.
