Bathroom Colors Of The 1920'S Era

The decadence of the 1020's era was reflected in its bathroom design.

Previous to the 1920's era, bathrooms were on the back veranda and they tended to be white and sterile. In the 1920s and 1930s, bathrooms came inside and became a fashion statement in many homes with bright colors and design taking over.

Style

Art deco design was popular in the 1920s.

The Art Deco Moderne Jazz style became popular in 1925, and bright geometric designs ruled the day in many 1920's era bathrooms. Some bathroom interiors were so exotic they sported marble tiles or highly decorated Spanish earthenware.

Colors

Black and white floors were popular in the 1920's era.

Many bathrooms of the 1920's era had white or cream walls accentuated with green, yellow, lavender, primrose or brown. Sometimes black and white checkerboard floors completed the picture.

Ceramics

Bathtubs often had clawed feet, and pedestal basins were common. Gleaming white tiles highlighted with fancy borders were popular. Greek key borders and decorative stripes were often used as well.
