There are usually several times per year when adding a dining room table leaf becomes necessary. You might need to accommodate extra guests at dinner, or are planning a party and need a longer dining room table to hold food and drinks. Manufacturers make adding a table leaf simple to do. Some dining room tables will even accept more than one leaf, although it helps to have a large room to hold such an elongated table. If you have an open floor plan or a small dining room, don't hesitate to rearrange some of the living room furniture and stretch or even temporarily move the dining room for the occasion.
Instructions
1. Move the dining room chairs away and unlock the dining room table, if applicable. Stand at one end of the table and have a helper stand opposite you.
2. Pull your end toward you as your helper pulls his end toward him until the table ends separate enough to accommodate the leaf.
3. Slide the dining room table leaf into the gap and secure it in place according to the manufacturer's instructions. Typically the leaf has protruding pegs that slide into corresponding holes in the table.
4. Push the dining room table back together and relock it, if applicable.
