Bathroom Countertop Colors

Counter tops come in a variety of colors.

Good bathroom design should reflect the homeowner's vision and personal style. While bathroom countertops are not always the most abundant element of the space, they should be chosen with care and should tie into the bathroom's overall design. Homeowners looking to create a unique bathroom space should consider material, durability and color when selecting counters.

Stainless

Stainless steel counters are one choice for bathrooms looking to achieve a modern feel. A stainless brushed steel material, stainless steel counters are durable, sterile and easy to care for. This material is ideal for bathrooms decorated in monochromatic palates, with dark walls and floors. Bathrooms utilizing stainless steel countertops should avoid carrying it through to other surfaces as it is a material can be bulky when overused. Brushed metal fixtures, such as faucets and faceplates, are a good match for bathrooms using stainless steel counters.

Black

Like stainless steel, black is a highly modern bathroom counter color that goes well with monochromatic color palette. Black counters should be introduced to bathrooms where the walls and floors are lighter colors, such as white or tan, and like stainless steel, black may be carried through the bathroom space to other elements to create uniformity. Splashes of deep, rich color are appropriate to bathroom spaces utilizing black counters. Black counters are available in laminate, marble, granite, quartz and tile.

Neutral

Neutral bathroom counters are standard and create a highly customizable color palette for bathroom spaces. New homes are often installed with neutral counters in both bathrooms and kitchens. Neutral colors include whites and tans in a variety of materials including laminate, natural stone marble and granites, quartz and tile. The neutral color on countertops is appropriate for every bathroom style from contemporary to country cottage and those looking to create a more eclectic look in bathroom spaces will appreciate a neutral color space to work from.

Browns

Brown countertops create bathroom spaces that are earthy and natural. Bathrooms that utilize a lot of earthy materials, such as hardwoods on floors and cabinets, are a good match for brown countertops. Spaces using brown countertops should utilize greens and tans in their elements, but never harsh monochromatic colors such as black or steel. White is appropriate in small doses, but should be limited to porcelain elements, such as the bathtub. Countertops in brown colors include such materials as unfinished stone, granite and quartz.
