Create A Princess Bedroom

Living the life of a pampered princess is a popular fantasy for young girls. A princess-themed bedroom is the ultimate way to make this fairy tale come to life. With soft pastels, plush bedding and elegant accents you can create a fantasy getaway where your little girl is sure to feel like royalty. Add a few easy do-it-yourself projects and you can accomplish this bedroom makeover with a minimum of expense.

Instructions

1. Select a color palette. Your princess may prefer a pretty pink room or a royal purple hue. Behr’s line of Disney Color paint includes several enchanted colors such as Tink Pink, One Enchanted Evening, Bibbidi Bobbidi Blue and Cinderella/s Ball Gown.

2. Paint the walls in a subdued pastel color. Add a border around the top and bottom of the room or stencil appropriately-themed shapes such as crowns, roses or gems onto the walls in a slightly darker color.

3. Cover the bed in luxurious royal bedding. Soft satin sheets, a lace-trimmed dust ruffle and pillows embellished with sequins or plastic gems provide an elegant and expensive look for the price of a few craft supplies.

4. Set up a vanity for the princess to prepare for her day. Glue plastic gems to the frame of a large mirror. Affix hooks to the wall on either side for costume jewelry or crowns. Provide a set of big, soft makeup brushes in jewel-encrusted cups on the vanity (actually providing powder or play makeup is optional depending on the child's age). Set a chest nearby stocked with dress-up clothes.

5. Search garage sales and antique stores for furniture with ornate carvings or interesting embellishments. Paint old wooden pieces white or a pale pastel color to match the bedroom and to mask scuffs or other imperfections. Use a darker color to accent trim or other features.
