Siblings may share looks but not decorating ideas.
Sometimes homes don't grow as fast as families. When this happens, siblings may need to share a bedroom. Sharing can be frustrating, especially when compromising is involved. Your children may have different needs and ideas for their portion of the room. Enjoy this time to work together for thoughts and solutions to sharing a bedroom.
Instructions
1. Select a wall color that both children agree upon. Combine two colors on one wall if the colors are compatible by dividing the top and bottom half of the wall with a chair rail. Use off-white or a neutral color if the children cannot come to an agreement.
2. Separate beds by placing them in opposite corners.
3. Purchase two area rugs for each child to enjoy a separate play area. Arrange two chests for toys and shelves for each sibling to hold special toys or books.
4. Purchase separate work desks for older children and place an area rug under the desk and chair. Attach shelves above each desk for books or personal photos.
5. Set up a quiet space in opposite corners with a chair and lighting for reading. Set a small table near the chair for books or magazines.
6. Allow each child to select pictures or posters for their connecting walls. Stencil their name on the wall beside their bed or their quiet space.
7. Divide the closet with two rods to hang clothes for each child. Use under the bed storage containers to separate shoes.
