Decorate A French Country Bedroom

French Country Bedroom

A French Country bedroom instantly creates a cohesive & relaxing space. It can even make you feel like your on vacation or visiting a bed & breakfast. You might want to redo your decor but you're short on cash. This style involves a lot of paint & imagination. You could even turn a nursery into a French country bedroom for a fresh theme. Plus, your little girl would love it for years to come. Whether it's a master suite or a guest room this style can add a lot for a little amount of money.

Instructions

1. Use a muted color palette. Traditional French Country colors are blue & yellow. You can branch out into any of your favorite hues just as long as they are subtle. Layer patterns instead of trying to make bold statements. Find tone on tone fabrics. You can even keep your French Country bedroom in shades of taupe, gold or white. It should be a relaxing retreat where you can easily fall asleep. You can even paint your furniture in coordinating colors for an inexpensive redo.

2. Find art work. Elaborate paintings aren't really fitting for this style. Instead, find old iron pieces that you love. You can cover fabric in canvas. You can even pick up old pieces of embossed tin. If you cant find one of those head to the hardware store & pick up an inexpensive ceiling tin that you can distress. Go to the thrift store & think outside the box. Scavenge the aisles for anything that catches your eye that you could possibly hang on the wall.

3. Add in bead board or molding. This will give your walls that old world feel. You can paint them the same color as the walls so that you don't have the hassle of taping off tiny pieces of trim. You can even box out large rectangles on your walls & then put up wallpaper or fabric. Then you can finish it off with molding. It will look casual, French & modern all at the same time.

4. Invest in a canopy. You can hang curtains from a four poster bed. You can even buy a canopy that will hang across your entire ceiling. You can make a hoop canopy. You can drape fabric on the wall behind your bed. You can even hang a curtain rod above your bed & hang fabric from it to the wall. The point is, every French Country bedroom needs a canopy.

5. Use subtle patterns. You can even use coordinating fabrics on the curtains, canopy & bedding. Toile is a classic French Country fabric, but you can even use a tone on tone stripe. this will lend a contemporary feeling that won't seem too fussy for the man in your life.
