Many couples spend a great deal of time in the bedroom, so spending time to make it a beautiful and relaxing space is well worth it. Coming up with fun decorating ideas, though, can be a challenge. Try painting the walls two different colors or setting up a canopy over the bed to change the image of the room. Installing wainscoting can increase the home's value. Couples with large budgets may even consider remodeling an unused attic and turn it into a bedroom loft retreat.
Canopy
A couple who wants a romantic room with a traditional touch may consider hanging a canopy over the bed. A canopy can become the focal point of the room. The couple can buy throw pillows and curtains to match the canopy. It also makes the bed feel cozier and more intimate.
Airy Loft
A loft is a great place for a couple's bedroom. It is light, airy and open. Loft apartments are available in many urban areas. If a couple owns a traditional single-family home, the two may consider remodeling their attic to turn it into a master bedroom loft. This will add flair to the house and add value at the same time.
Split Colors
For couples with a lower budget, painting a room can be a fun way to change its feel. Install chair rail molding around the room and then choose two different paints colors for the top and bottom of the rail. A darker color on bottom and a lighter color on top adds the illusion of height to the room.
Candle Shelf
To add romance and elegance to the bedroom, install a candle shelf on top of chair rail around the room. The shelf sticks out about three to five inches from the wall---just wide enough to place a candle on. Once the shelf is installed, line candles on the shelf the entire way around the room. Light the candles and turn off the lamps, and any couple will love the beautiful, soft light and romantic ambiance.

If the two partners have different styles, bring both into the room. Each partner decorates one wall completely to his choosing. Though the room may not be completely unified, it will be incredibly unique and personal. Plus, each person gets her preference while still compromising.

Couples who enjoy home improvement projects will love installing wainscoting together. The white-washed paneling will make the bedroom look upscale and add value to the house. The couple will enjoy spending time together nailing and painting the wainscoting and will be proud of the final product.
