Some oval tables have more than one leaf.
There are many different types of oval dining sets. If you have one that extends, then it probably comes with one, two or even three leaf extensions. Learning extend your oval dining table can be tricky if you haven't been shown the proper way to do it. You could damage your table or leaf if not done correctly, so it's important to know what you're doing.
Instructions
1. Look at your dining table to see if it separates in the middle. Most oval dining sets start out round and then turn into an oval when the leafs are placed in the middle to extend it. If you do not see a separation in the middle, your table won't extend to an oval dining table.
2. Unlock the locks. Once you know that your leaf extends, get on your knees and look under the tabletop to see if there are locks keeping the table secure. Most locks are located on each end of the table -- in the middle, where it separates. You should be able to slide the locks open very easily. Don't forget to look in the middle of the table to see if there is one located there, too.
3. Look under the oval tabletop for leafs if you have a self-storing table. You may see them folded in the middle or they may just slide out when your tabletop opens up. Others may slide out at one end before you even open it up.
4. Open the oval tabletop by pulling gently on each side, away from the other. Make sure you've opened the table all the way in order to pull the leafs out to extend your table. You may need assistance from someone if the table is hard to pull apart, especially if there is humidity in the air.
5. Gently pull out your leafs if they are stored under the tabletop. After you carefully remove the amount of leafs you wish to use to extend your table, align them next to the proper holes and close your tabletop. Lock the table underneath when you have finished extending it.
6. Enjoy your extended oval dining table!
