Master Bedroom Sitting Area Ideas

If you're fortunate enough to have a master bedroom with a sitting area, you know how this can add an element of relaxation and privacy to your space. It's a place where you can get away from the hubbub in the rest of the house to read or perhaps just think. If you don't have this kind of space in your bedroom, you can make one. Choose seating according to what you want to do with this little nook.

Seating With a View

Make a window the focal point of your seating area. Place a chair at an angle next to the window so that you can look outside. If your room is large enough, have two chairs or love seats facing each other, with the window between them.

Corner Reading Cove

If you plan to use your master bedroom seating area for reading, make the seating area cozy. Place your chair or chairs in a corner. Add an ottoman so that you can prop up your feet and add a standing lamp for light. If you have room, add a bookcase and a magazine rack.

Curtain Defined Space

If want to separate this sitting space from the rest of the room, consider doing so with curtains. Hang two curtains from the ceiling. Use tiebacks to pull the curtains to the sides when you're not using the space. Coordinate the fabric in the curtains with what you already have in the room to make the whole look cohesive.

Sofa-Created Space

If your master bedroom is large enough to support a sizable seating area, consider using a sofa to break the room into sleeping and sitting sections. Place a sofa at the edge of your sitting area, arranging it so that the back faces the sleeping area. Add chairs or a love seat to make the space a conversation area. Add side tables so that you and your spouse can enjoy a cup of coffee together in the morning or a cup of tea at night.
